What will your last 10 years look like?
When I talk about adopting a healthier lifestyle, the thing I hear most often is: “Something's gotta kill ya.”
And yes—that’s true. I didn’t change my lifestyle because I want to live forever. I changed it because I wanted to feel better.
I wanted energy, movement, sleep, and joy.
That’s what led me to lifestyle medicine, and eventually, to founding Lifestyle Medical Services Inc.
I experienced firsthand what a difference diet and exercise made—not just in lab numbers, but in daily life. And I wanted to share that with my patients.
For me, medicine is about more than writing prescriptions. I want to know what’s stressing you out, what brings you joy—hopefully it’s not just a pork chop. 😄
I hope this story gives you a reason to pause and reflect. It’s never too late to make a change—and we’re here to help when you’re ready.
Sincerely,
Dr. Petra Crookendale
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle medicine focuses on 6 main principles:
Plant-based nutrition
Exercise
Managing stress
Avoiding risky substances
Quality sleep
Maintaining good social relationships
These principles have been around since the time of Hippocrates but some still consider this “new” area of medicine.
